Long Run Transportation, one of the most reputable carriers in the region, was founded in 1996 by Gary Kale and Russ Britton. Over the years Long Run has increased in size from five trucks to over 50 trucks, due to the leadership and strong management skills of its management team and dedicated reliable employees.

Although the logistics management of the company began with chiefly one coal haul, it has expanded to include term contracts with Contura Energy, Kanawha Eagle Mining Company, American Electric Power Company and various spot hauling arrangements. While most trucking companies rarely change, Long Run Transportation diversified to include transporting agricultural products such as fertilizer, corn and soybeans and aggregates such as sand and stone.
